  • Are you on glue?

After seeing Stefan's great ani I decided I had to play with Glue3D, I don't think it can quite do water but the lava looked great! I remembered an old material called "magmalicious" and wondered how it would work...well it works great ! and glue3D works with VRay displacement too

Here's a still from a test ani I am rendering:

      RErender:
hehehe that looks great. Can you share the material settings?

Nice render, but 2 1/2 hours per frame....OUCH!!
But you get that with lots of vray lights, IES lights, glossies, and DOF.

Nice image zeromancer, going to take a while to render the animation ,

Here is the ani test of the lava:

and the Magma settings (in conjunction with 3D displacement):

Now to get it to move like lava

hmmmm that looks a little weird....its meant to be red hot near the start and as it cools thats when it goes hard and dark, but i think that will be hard to do with a procedural shader....maybe with some crazy falloff/gradient work.

I agree it's not quite there but lava can flow a long way without cooling much and the crust forms and can re-melt, here is a good example:

yeah i know. if yours was to move slower....and only crust on the top and near the edges and at the front i think it would look better.....

Have a look at this shader....its pretty good. abit of work with falloff and it could look fantastic

good point, I'll see what I can do to keep the crust on top, and then onto the right movement and environment.

                to be continued...

Yes, the DOF kills my performance, a have shots w/o DOF and they were about 2 mins. There are no Vray lights

Yes, it would, but I am not for an animation - I do always stills so 2.5h is a result i can get along with

2min, much better, DOF really needs a speed increase IMHO

Ahh ok i saw all the square reflections in the jug and assumed they were vray lights..my bad

Erm... I forgot to say that 2 mins were for an image without any glue.
i think my image too that long coz I also used a mesh smooth on that glue source and a water material with refractions.

A little update: I skipped ahead to the environment glu3d is a pain in the @$$ Hope Stefan writes that tutorial soon
