  • My First One!!!!!

Well after weeks of crashing and having to reload my materials every time I open the sketchup file I've managed to render an image (my first one).
Now just need your help with getting the image to have more 'Umph' - shadows don't seem to exist, well not strong enough, and the furniture seems to be slightly floating.
I've also attached my settings for guidance and criticism.

    Cheers,

    Drew

    hello agentorange.
it's good to see new people around. There has been way too little activity lately...
it's great for a first image, why don't you tell us more about what you made?, about the illumination, and about the materials.
it seems to me that you used the phisical camera and a lot of imported materials.
you know, for me, the trick is to apply a material to every single detail, including tv screens and leaves.
it's hard to apreciate materials with so much white color. i think your image will look better if you decrease a little bit the camera parameters.
also change to hsv exponential to mantain true colors from your model.
    i like contrast.
a little bit of reflection on the tv screens(or frames) would help. right now it seems to me like you added the image in photoshop.
may i also ask how heavy your file is?,
i ask this because i have not had issues lately and your image does not appear to be so heavy.
    great first image.
    keep posting.
    cheers.

Many thanks for your reply and comments.

This first attempt is of a boardroom for a large office - I have modelled the complete building floor which is probably one of the reasons why it keeps crashing - the model size is 67meg. Think this my learning curve on understanding how much to model specifically when using Vray for the renders. I usually model the whole building floor for the client to show the layout and overall 'feel' of the space - now I've started to use vray I guess I need to breakdown the model into 'smaller sections' before rendering.

You're right about the materials - all have been imported as I first need to understand the lighting before I move on to the materials - although in theory they both effect each other.

      Cheers
