    It's a still though Wouldn't t be worth it

I guess you have glossies on pretty much everything but the eye in your scene. I see where you're coming from

If you're gonna go on like this, I'll have to try that DOF.

I'm rendering the new DOF version right now. It's been rendering all afternoon, and will have to render on tonight. DOF takes even longer than I'd expected.

Wow, didn't realize. I've never had a chance to try it except for many moons ago. You didn't have to do it just for me :P

            Well, I think it's a fine suggestion ... and a seemingly time-consuming one.

It's morning again now, and it looks like it'll have to render on this morning, and maybe a part of the afternoon as well, so it will probably exceed the 24-hour boundary.

                Oops

Sounds like me wanting to use DOF and area shadows on a BIIIIG project.

I've got a 2,5 GHz Pentium 4 with 1 MB RAM, which is not a bad system I guess. But there's always some rendering technique that gets your machine on its knees, begging you to have mercy with its silicones.

The render is almost finished now. I'll check out how long it took when it's finished(still miss a simple realtime timer in that render dialog, since the beginning of Max).

                        Cheers,

Ok, the new remix with some subtle DOF is finished and updated. Might need a reload to see it in this topic.

                          Cheers,

                              Heya Jon,

Thanks! To be honest I forgot to look at the final rendertime. Guess I was so glad it was finished that I quickly wanted to forget how long it took. But roughly estimated it took about 26 hours at 1600 x 1200 resolution, simple two-level AA (because of a lot of blurry effects in the scene), Irradiance and photons for GI (which didn't take long at all to precalculate), two VRay lights, a HDRI environment and last but not least the seemingly ultimate rendertime stimulant: DOF. So the scene specs are quite heavy. It's not a suprise that it took a long time to render at 1600 x 1200, but still it is too long I think. But machines get faster and VRay keeps improving, so the prospects are bright enough.

                              Cheers,
