  • 2 houses - autumn theme

    Hi,
So I wanted to do an autumn theme for this project. Initially I even had yellow (dried up grass) to increase the autumn feel, but client said "this is in Austria, here the grass is always green" so I had to switch back
Also, client is not satisfied with my road, and on the other hand I am very satisfied! Finally I made an asphalt that is rough, and almost no tiling. The key was (yes very obvious but I always forget) to turn off filtering - from pyramidal to none.
Also I wanted to do wet spots on the road, like it was after the rain, but mostly dried out. I know it's very subtle, but let me know what you think.

    kind regards

Guys I would really appreciate some feedback here. What do you think of camera angles/lens I used, should I go wider and closer, or farther and narrower lenses? What do you think of the road? Client hated it, but I love the way it turned out, so I'm not sure who's right.
    Thanks

      Some quick PS attached,

For me there is too much contrast, + bring some of the greens/yellow together to be more similar + try some more dramatic (wide angle) views?
Road/driveway is a bit over the top, grass is awesome.

      Cheers

The hedge looks all green even though all the background trees have autumn color. Maybe make the hedge look more fall-color-like. The railings on the balcony look like they are tiling. The road is almost too dirty and too dominating. And the dark grey of the house is a little too matte and flat looking. Maybe add noise? Or paint some on? Just my 2 cents!

          Thanks guys.
bob-cat your version looks cool. I guess I was going for more contrast in that view because the sun is directly in front of the camera.
Now colours, I always use light element to bring out the light more, and some colour adjusting with curves, but I feel like I'm missing some technique other people are using - though I mostly see them using AE but for stills. I'm sure though, it should be possible to make all this in PS. Like this image attached - I often see this colour grading used - is there some obvious tutorial for it that I'm missing?

Not sure who's the author, but I love this render. Of course this colour grading is not for my scene...but maybe the technique could be used.

windrockwater I agree...again it was a sort of mix of client and my ideas (which were quite different). Initially everything was yellow but then I figured that often these plants planted in peoples garden often do stay green much longer because they are not native to that area...hope that makes sense.

I'll post more recent renders with new "normal" grey road.

            new road

Here are the finished renders I did last week...now I'm on new project so I'll probably get back to this one later.
Now on this new road water spots look weird, especially on the view01, so I'll have to fix that too.

not sure if it's just my monitor setup, but to me they appear very dark - i don't see any details at all in the areas that are in shadow.
it's almost as if there is no indirect illumination...just a direct sunlight. are you using LWF?
also, the cars look a little strange - do they have an image map in the reflection slot for the materials?

Yes, LWF, and yes indirect...maybe I went for too much contrast in these because that's the way I saw them in my mind ...for this project. Kinda strong autumn sun after rain, high contrast, etc.
                Nope, cars have normal reflections.
