  • Interior WIP...

Making progress and learning a bit every day as I use V-ray.

This is a Work in progress of an interior. Still need to adjust many things but coming along. The only weird behavior was the "disappearing act" of a 2 sided lamp material. I renders fine but need to constantly re-assign it to the lamp geometry because it simply disappears from the scene (?)

Also I need to adjust the reflections of the glass (doors) and incorporate the kitchen on the back.

What do I need to adjust to make the Aluminum material on the sliding doors and upper windows less grainy?

    All comments welcome!

    good progress!
I'm wondering - are you purging materials before you render? The two sided material is not shown as assigned in sketchup when you use it, and the sketchup "delete unused" textures will remove the material. My workaround is to assign it to an edge, that way sketchup knows it's there.

What are your material settings for the alum? I've seen that look before, but I don't remember what needed to be changed.

I wonder if it would help your image if you had a background image behind that glass. It looks a bit harsh with the fully reflective glass.
    Best,

    Andy

Looks nice! All you needed now is to integrate amenities (accessories like vase, photos, hanging pictures, dining table stuff, etc) as well as photoshop post-processing, to go! sketchupvrayresources.blogspot.com houses lots of tutorials that can help you get started

Here is a view from the kitchen on the same room. I need help on how to have the renders less grainy. What are the parameters I need to tweak? Also there is a small light leak (upper right ceiling) that I don't know how to improve. V-Ray gurus...please spread your wisdom!!!

Noise threshold make it 0.001 to start reducing noise, beware of render times though.
To combat light leaks, increase passes in Irradiance Map (-3 for min rate and -1 or 0 for max rate).
There are still many things you can tweak, but I have mentioned the basics to what you need to solve.

And finally (if your deadline is not tight), test renders and see results until you find the settings that fit what you want, then document it.

Not a tight deadline on this particular one. As a matter of fact...I am learning as I go.
If you have more settings suggestions, Welcome!
