Hey guys. I see both sides of your story and I can understand your frustrations. But you all need to chill out and be nicer to one another. :P

Suurland's obviously a very busy guy- his images attest to that. And no he hasn't always responded to some of my questions and at times I've felt very slighted- but he is probably incredibly busy beyond his own personal life. Would it be nice- extremely, but unfortunately it's not his job to teach. He probably just lacks the time to go into detail. I wish he had more time, I really wish he could help us out a little more, but unfortunately for us he is free to do as he wishes. I would not go so far as to say he is unfriendly. That's getting way too personal. Could he be friendlier? I'm sure we could all use a lesson or two.

I can't blame him completely for not wanting to share all of his secrets. There are plenty of resources on the web for learning how to model a photo-realistic car in Max (granted 99% of them are written poorly.) I'm sure he had to go through the ropes just like all of us had to at some point or another. And I don't think it's always beneficial to find the 'easy way' out. Some struggle is good for the soul.

If you think Suurland's not helpful, just take a look at his website. I beg to differ with those who say differently. He is generous enough to post CAD drawings and blueprints- something which he has no obligations to share. And he has some basic tips as to how he starts off his work. I think it's very generous. Can't say too many of us would be willing to share diagrams for all of us to freely download.

p.s. - I once taught a coworker everything I knew about Photoshop from the ground up completely out of the bottom of my heart. And I had worked extremely hard to get to that level of knowledge cause I was completely self-taught. Several months later she turned around and called me a conceited arrogant asshole (I admit I was somewhat pissed at her cause she was making me do all the work.) C'est la vie. Would I help her out again if I could go back in time? I don't know. But that's one less job out the market for someone who could really use it.

I didnt really want to post in this thread, as i think it should be locked.

But i would like to say, instead of everyone saying that suurland is busy and has many things to do, and making assumptions (as how can you possibly know, other than guessing or assuming). I would like to hear it straight from the horses mouth. I have seen many times where people have asked fairly simple questions and they have just been left unanswered even myself have been on that boat.

If you are too busy suurland just say so, or if you would rather not post because its a technique you would rather keep to you self that is fine or whatever, but just let us know. Im sure the last thing you want is for everyone to get the wrong idea about you.

I think your work is great....and you know that. Dont take what i have said the wrong way, as im trying to be as neutral as possible.

p.s. Also dont forget that we are greatful for what help you do give us

I must agree completly with jujubee, i cant compare my work with suurland but i have also taught some friends some 3d and as jujubee points, it doensn't pass too much time since i tought this guy, and, long story short, that guy finally ended stealing some cds from me, talking to some of my clients and telling them that MY WORK WAS HIS!! well, the point is that, its ok to share the stuff, even give some good tips, but at the end of the day, even some guys in this forum are actually a real competition between them, i know i have in this forum, so, why give away all the time i have behind my monitor?? i dont think so...

Speaking for Thomas, i have learned a lot from him, his posts and his site, and i got to tell you, he does a lot more than i consider enough free tips, and even so, if someone wanna learn something in particular, you dont ask a particular guy all the stuff, you search all over the net for that what you want and then apply all your new knowledge to your particular proyect.

I can say how many times i have give, and seen peolpe give some tips, and they just keep asking the same things over and over again on the forum, and even in the same thread, its very frustating and believe me, sometimes you just give up, and THIS ISN'T the case of suurland, what he brings to this forum and the 3d world its great, and i wanna take this thread to thank him, as so many other guys here that do a lot for everybody, Gonçalo, Vlado, Pendzel, in fact, even putting some names here isn't ok, we all know the guys that keep coming day after day to give info and tips, so to all that people i thank you all, and the people that keep coming day after day just to see what the can learn or leech without giving nothing back, you know, the people that reads this and havent even post anything yet, i tell you, you are the scum of the net, you are worthless as artists and as a human being, and as for me, i despise that kind of people.

Its ok to be a newb, everybody was a newb once, but c'mon, if you dont wanna help, dont want anyone to help you either.

          Peace!
          Best Regards.

          Jorge Zamudio.
