Just wanted to start posting some renders every now and then. This will be the place for that. Most of them might be experimental renders or ones that I've just been playing around with to learn v-ray better. I'm not expert, but am always trying to improve. Just thought I'd start sharing my progress so that later on down the road I have something to look back on and see how I've developed. Most renders are straight out of v-ray, but some of them I have combined 2 renders to achieve a better render.

I'll start with just a few I have available right now. Most of what I've done is jewelry, but I would love to try out other scenes as I keep learning.

I learned a lot during this test. I followed the zbrush bricks tutorials and made one myself. Then I had a lot of learning to do to get it back over to Matrix/Rhino so that I could render it in v-ray. I played with the texture mapping a lot. These stones I used a texture baked map I did in zbrush before exporting from zbrush. I'll try experimenting a little and try rendering it without texture baking. I would like to learn as many methods as I can to get the best results. So far I'm happy just to have got it working correctly. I don't have a rendering background and am trying to learn it the best I can. It's never too late to discover new things.


Ok so I tested it out with just a texture map and a bump map (third image). I like having the control during render time.

Celtic knot Rings
