  • Photo Enlargement

I was ready to purchase either PhotoZoom or PerfectPhoto, both being a $200.00 investment, but I found SmillaEnlarge. SmillaEnlarge is open source, and free! Check it out! I haven't compaired side-by-side, yet.

okay. Hands down, PhotoZoom wins my side-by-side comparison. I took an image and increased it by 500%, without any pixelation.

Perfect Photo Suite 7 is also nice. Both Perfect Photo, and PhotoZoom did just as good, but Perfect Photo does more and has a nicer UI.

I've been using PhotoZoom since the first version. It has always been the best in my testing (I've tried many, although not the open source one). It's well worth the investment if you do this a lot.

have you looked at Perfect Photo? If you can render 1/2 size, and blow it up, it's a no-brainer.

Can't remember if I tried that one or not - think I did a while back.

There is always a price to be paid in quality no matter what software you use. You can't always get away with 1/2 size rendering and blowing it up. There will be quality loss - guaranteed - it's just a question of how much is acceptable. For me, I only use the enlargement software when I have to, never as a go-to. Everyone's needs/methods are different though.

Good info guys, thanks. I am looking for something to use when in a pinch, a tight deadline. Maybe 2 or 3 times per year...

Perfect Photo has a 30 day trial. I tried it, and I was surprised that the trial doesn't have a watermark. You had to zoom in really close to see any resizing artifacts.

I've been trying the trial of Perfect Photo Suite, and it is really good...It is ridiculously easy to use, for really quick stuff, loads of presets, have not really experimented much with re-size tool, yet...
                      thanks for sharing that info.
