Chicago Apartment - Farcroft

Here are two more interior spaces of another Chicago apartment. My machine's are acting wonky, and my render times are through the roof, so I am done for now. It's a really small space so I used furniture sparingly. I also used a lot of monochrome to give it that urban feeling.

Before you say it, he requested the soft, dreamy feel, from a previous piece I have on my website ;?)

funny.. I spend days on the first one, ran out of time, and rushed the second one.

here are the previous rendering the client had done, by someone else. They asked me to redo them, based on the first project I did for them.



I am not going to trash someone's work, and these are not awful, I just don't know why they didn't spend a little extra time to get it right.

I figured out why DOF never worked for me in post.... gamma. When PS opens my images it applies the gamma curve. So, I thought I would inverse the image, and voila!

I am little slow, but I'll get there! The client liked it, but there isn't crown molding, and they like the original tan. The counter top is tan, and I need to re-scale the floor, which they didn't catch. I got the 4th project from them today; forth in two weeks! It's like being back in the early 90's. It'll be short lived,I am sure, since I don't think things will be good, early next year.

oh, ya! No trim on the windows, either. Mind you, I am working with napkin sketched floor plans, and rough dimensions.

The quality is very good....in my opinion the 1st two images will help to sell the project but on the other hand the 3rd and 4th one missed the goal.
It's an small apartment without a living room...2 eating areas with a table for 4 people but a chair for one person..they don't sell the unit well for sure.

good point, but the space is tiny so, I wanted a minimum amount of furniture. The thing against the wall, with the books on it, is a sofa. These units will sell for 1/4 of a million and it's really the location. How would you have handles the second set of images?

Bobby, I think if you erase the dining table and all the space becomes the living room will help you to sell the unit better...in this type of small condo the island is the dining area.
urban living is all about the lifestyle that you want to sell and the flexibility of the tiny spaces.

I agree. If I remember, I started with a sketch, showing table and chair there. I'll tweak it a bit, and see what they say.
