  • HDRI w/reflect backside

I'm not sure why I'm getting this anomaly, but... When I turn on reflect backside with using an HDRI for skylight and reflection (same map instanced). I'm getting jaggy reflections. Here's an example image showing with and without.

This is using the demo version obviously. Latest build found on the official site.

Can't see very clearly, but if it is what I think it is, it's a bug in the VRay material that I found and fixed only recently and which will go into the newer builds.

Yeah, I know it's a bit hard to recognize. But I didn't wanna post too large an image. Seems to only happen with HDRI images used in the environment reflect slot of the renderer. Would a workaround or better solution be to use it in the materials reflect slot? I'm gonna test this now that I think about doing that. Glad to hear its a (possible) bug and soon to be fixed

Here's a larger image using just a black background so as to see the anomaly clearer.

hi .... forgive me if im wrong but it looks like you are seeing the reflection on the other side of the sphere mirrored.

I was thinking the same, what happens if you move the camera and render again?

In the first example there are diagonal lines like a stair rail in the reflection but in the second they are more like large pixels. I think those two dark squares on the left are the problem.

Here's a few more examples. with a different HDRI and camera angle. Plus to fully understand the object I included a cut-away view of the object.

              with reflect on backside

              without reflect on backside
