Here is a kitchen I am trying to finish. I have some texture issues, which I am fixing, but I have other issues that I need help with. The fine detail of the trim is rendering black. I PS'd it, but how do I avoid this happening? Also, I am getting light leaks around my window trim, which again, I painted out.

Id check the smoothing groups on the trim. if not that then it may be flipped normals (check with back-face culling). Failing that just sweep a new profile - couple of minutes work.
Put a blocker outside to help with the leaks.
    Hope that helps.

You know what? It's funny. I fixed the smoothing groups on the crown trim, which solved the dark spots, but I guess I forgot the other trim. I was working very late so, I guess I was a little out of it. Thanks!

Maybe, I can add some light up the stairs, so it can give it some depth. Now, it looks like it is stairs to no-place. I have to add wood grain to the risers.

Hey there - you sound like you're working too much! Im a great believer in taking a few steps back from time to time; can work wonders for efficiency!

Have you tried vraylightselect yet? I recommend re-rendering your image with that active for your sun, your ceiling lights, light up the stairs, and any fill lights you have. Render your RGB with lower than normal lighting. In photoshop you can then add the lightselect elements with linear dodge (add) blend mode - and play with the opacity. You can fine tune your lighting much easier like that. Id throw in some AO too - Two AO passes work well: 1 very fine AO for all the small details, mask away from ceiling corners and anywhere it looks weird. And then add a big fat chubby AO pass also - you should mask this one out completely in photoshop and then just paint in the shadows where you need them with a brush..... You'll get some good variation like that.

Yes. I did two AO passes, but I made it very subtle. I tried the light select, but I didn't realize you had to do one for each light, so I backed out. if I have time, I'll try it on this one. Thanks for the feedback.

I have smooth section, and smooth path off, but I am still getting black lines. What else can I look for to correct this? Maybe AA filter?

Looking very nice Bobby. I'd tone down the vignette a bit, but I'm a fan. Let's see the (more) final.

I turned off the AA filter and the detail cleaned up nicely. I am rendering out some lower resolution updates, and I'll post it shortly.

Thanks! I am finding that these bright colors are easier to work with.

I read a bit ago a post that someone did that said no white is above 217. Are you using lower values for the whites and compensating with camera exposure or did you just do it like we all usually do?

I use white of 207. I placed a white box (207) in the middle of my scene, and used a white balance to make it white.

Yikes. Getting seriously good here. You've fixed two gripes I had with the original, bump being waaaay too strong and the image itself being so sharp you'd cut yourself on it. You've done a lot to knock the CG edge off the render - might be worth trying to back off the various lens / optics types effects to 50% of what they are right now but you've made some amazing leaps over the past few jobs you've done. Maybe it was just getting the right client / project to really show off what you know but from where you've started this is seriously nice work.

                            Well done Bobby.

Thank you, very much. Yes. The client makes the difference. The last three project were from an architect who said, "take your time, you can't rush the stuff you do". Usually I get, "I need it tomorrow!". I will post an update tomorrow.
