usually the wood pieces are very tight, almost no gap between planks...Nicinus pointed it too! the material itself looks very good to me.
I think if you rotate the floor 90 degrees would look better as well...you need another wood piece where the stair starts and regarding the color that yellow is not the best option...maybe a lighter gray would go better there

I couldn't figure out where my interesting shadows where coming from. They are from the candles, which I had set some huge multiplier. I have fixed that, which should correct the candle sss, the glowing fruit, and the strange shadows. I'm not sure I understand the stair concern.

Very beautiful image,you should have some kind of nosing where the floor meets the stair,a piece of wood parallel to the stairs and perpendicular the floor.

wow very nice.. last interior rendering i saw of yours was the church one with an old man.. so from that to this one i can see an amazing improvement in your work. very nice feel!

Thanks. Again, I got almost complete freedom with this one. The architect, Zisong Feng, and I worked together years ago. He sent me some rough cad drawings, and Google image link, and the okay to go. When we worked together, in the late 90's, I was doing hand renderings for high rises. Here is Zisong's webpage. He is a brilliant architect.

I think I have beat this one to death, so I am calling it done! To keep re-render times down I am loosing quality, but I have other work to do, so I can't have my machines tied up anymore.

I'd be tempted to put a little bit of detail back into the lightbulbs rather than have totally white candle shapes but that's about it.
