Nice renders!! I really like the background in the second image..That's where a lot of people go wrong...but yours is truly convincing!
A few crits:
-maybe you could fix the tiling in the couch texture! It got my attention immediatly
-and those boxes up there could use a texture...looks like a standard grey material..some nice texture on it would make the scene much more realistic!
Yep, the second one is great. Decorative IES downlights AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH runs screaming from the building what's wrong with normal downlights? aren't they 200mm emergency downlights for large spaces not kitchen sinks, hehe
TJE, I've just noticed everyone is using those ErcoIES downlights in their renderings with the wacky web profile. There are several kinds. Small decorative lights for foyers, where they are used for features (they have strange mask fittings or glass bits that protrude to splay the light in funny directions and another kind that are large recessed lights with an indented interior that bounce the light in numerous directions, these are emergency downlights. I think you may have pretty emergency lighting over your sink. Hence if caught in a deadly fire your cutlery will have a clean getaway boom boom. I too think the falloff looks neat but at one point lensflares still looked neat, I think these lights could be the new 'architectural' lensflare.
You might be right there, Richard - but they do give a sense of detail. This was a small scene so it was ok, but I think they are too timeconsuming to be using in massive numbers...

Hehehe!!! You're good! If you look carefully, the steel is already trying to abandon the premisses, as it is too ugly to be in such picture...
