  • Mercedes-Benz 300 SL

    Hi Guys,
this is the first post here, we would like to share our last project.
We produced an internal project to show some of our stereoscopic, still image and animation work.

We chose to make a tribute to the Mercedes 300SL for it's classic lines, detail and beauty.
The project was created with 3D Studio Max, Vray and Fusion.
    C&C are welcome.

Wow. The level and attention to detail is exquisite.

I'd be interested in seeing a raw render & wireframe. It always intruigues me as to how much is post production.

Beauty! Did you use HDRI for studio setup or vray lights?

            Gorgeous stuff.

Some of the wide shots look a tiny bit "toyish" to me purely as such a large object would likely have a bit of lens softening / dof on it - maybe the edges are just too crisp / sharp and make them look a tiny bit CG? That and just a tiny bit of sampling sparkle are the only things that draw my eye.

The varnish / lacquer that you have on the steering wheel and dash board looks gorgeous - the subtle amount of bump on it is great.

I very much like the interior stills! Really beautiful images and a great level of realism at the same time. very convincing materials throughout.
I'd be interested to know if those shots worked out naturally with an HDRI through the windows of the car or whether there was any more staging in the lighting setup.

There is one thing that keeps catching my eye (and only because I'm looking at them for so long!) but are there really tiny fingerprints on the steering wheel?
Seems like there's maybe a mis-scaled fingerprint dirt map (it's most noticeable on the 4th image in the central steering wheel section).
Again, sorry it's just a criticism for the sake of it! With images that impressive I am willing to believe that miniature people have been driving the car . Great work!

                  Hi Guys

Thanks for all of you comments !

To answer some of your questions:

All of the internal stills the lighting was created using only 1 Hdri light. As for some wire frames and raw renders I will post some of them up shortly. Regarding post for the video we had very little just some light color correction and Dof.

                  Regards

                  Romy
