I think, If you locate the sun on the opposite side of the camera would look better...with the sun behind the camera hardly ever you get good results.

Well, I agree, but this architect wants all the materials to be the same color. You know, "why is the siding darker here?".

It's good to know that I am not the only one with stupid clients! Yes, shadows make materials look darker and textured surfaces too..... Your sherwin Williams color doesn't look the same when you picked under fluorescent light....sometimes I would like to win the lottery to slap them in the face.

I get photos with instructions to, "match this". I crop the area, and do an average blur, which matches it spot on. They usually remember something as they remember seeing it, and it's different than the photo, but their brain doesn't recalibrate or something. I usually have to prove that I am showing them the color they gave me.

A client send me a jpg of a tile one time. I slapped it on the floor and when he saw the render he asked why I didnt use the tile he gave?
I then took the perspective and in photoshop stuck his tile on a part of my floor. It matched so close that I had to put a border around his jpg tile image so you can distinguish it from my floor. I saved it and send it to him. He then said oh ok but it doesnt look right, use another tile.

Another time I did a 10 minutes animation. After months of going back and fourth and the client seeing the progress 100 times, at the end at the final animation he said, "oh we forgot to tell you that part of of that component changed, please change it and send us the new animation". Told him I would have to rerender the whole thing (because that part was seen in whole thing). He said "no but can't you just copy and paste?"

They really don't have a clue. It's going to be in our favor, because people are sinking a lot of money in hardware and software, just to find out that it's more than technology that makes a good image. Over the past couple years we have hired a dozen graduate architects, most with art as a specialty, but non have proven to do anything but pull a camera and hit render. I got excited, because I thought I would have physical people (not you guys) to talk shop with, but that hasn't been the case. This weekend, my 9 years old son asked why janitors don't make a lot of money, and I said, "because it's an easy job to fill; anyone can push a broom". I think a lot of non-technical people think that what we do is easy, and it just takes a warm body to hit render, but they are mistaken. They are not budgeting for illustrations, because their cad tech's can hit render, but they are wondering why it's taking 10x longer, and not looking a fraction as good. The illustration can kill a project; in it's tracks, if it's awful. When I do get work from an architect, I usually get a couple days if I am lucky, and that's with changes along the way.
