Just a tad bit of motion blur on the butterfly would be nice. Other than, that it looks REAL!

My glass does look to perfect, and I thought about faking it in PS.

Look at the glass panels, though highly reflective, they are not perfect, the glass tends to warp a lot, when in side the frame, it creates irregular reflection/refraction. The line that meets the pebble on the floor with the wall is also very straight for me. At this distance, I would use scatter to actually place real geometric pebble which would give you much more natural look, then displacement.

I think it looks really good, but what catches my eye is the edge between the gravel and the wall.

Thanks. I purchased the gravel library from Arrowway, and they have some kind of edge alpha, but I haven't had time to play with it.

The falloff used to mix between them is simply a fresnel - might want to note that i've got it over black and not set to 100. The wood has very soft glossy reflections to pick up it's own subtle highlights and the details of the bump underneath the varnish coating.

Are you using Fresnel reflections in your base material?

I think perhaps you try to do too much with textures to get something memorable.

Here is an update. I am not sure if it is better, or just different. Basically, I brought the wood back to its original state, warped the glass a little, put a motion blur on the butterfly, and fixed the rocks from breaking at the wall.
