Are the images that boring? I approach this kind of work as I try to make the image as understated as I can get it. It's always in my mind to take a snapshot. Basically I want to be invisible in the creation part.
For the outside shot I started with this image and then add in the architects new building. mostly it was trying to make it seem as if it was always there.
I think you did a great job on the exterior. The interior is a bit off in my opinion. It's mainly the lighting and the floor and the "hotspot" top left and on the floor. Shaders in general look great (except the main floor appears to tile a bit - maybe try bercontile to get some variation?)
On the interior, i think you are overpowering the lights, try to use aditional light not visible by the camera to brighten the dark areas. I like the exterior but replace the sky or even better put a gradient blue over the white sky and adjust the opacity. Those are my impressions.

Morne, Oligophant, Thanks for the pointers. I have a light wall at the back of the class (to the left) Maybe drop it's power and reduce it's height and add an invisible light below the actual ceiling lights? For the tiling of the floor I do need to correct that.
thanks again,
