Here, is a small space, that I am trying to make nice. The stone looks flat, and my shadows are to sharp. Other than that, what can I do to improve it.

I'd say the doorhandle on the left is too high, and the other doors need one too . The plant in front of the Van Gogh i'd place on the right hand side (under the first avenue dental text). All your sharp object edges need some amount of chamfering. The material on the chair looks kinda plastic-y, and maybe add a slight hint of AO to make things less clinical (ha).

update - the big tooth is just something I had, and seemed like a good idea. I spent some time on Google images, and a lot of offices had little gimmicky things sitting around the lobby area.

All the changes were quickly made in PS, so I didn't move anything.

To much blue, so I changed the wallpaper back to tan. Once I get feedback from the Architect, I'll do a final. Question. How do I soften my shadow lines coming from the lights? Should I used a different IES? Or, is there a light setting I can play with?

I think my problem with this image is not so much the rendering. Its the design (or lack of). There must be 10 or more different elements/materials going on in such a small space. Its awful. You are always going to struggle to get something like that looking 'nice'. Sorry to be harsh.

I think the sharp shadows are the result of very small ies light shapes. Try a different one. Did you set shadow bias of those lights to zero? You need some subtle chamfering around the edge of that stone. The modelling also really needs to match up to the individual stones, but that would take a good while. Maybe just photoshop that bit?
            Kind Regards,
            Richard Birket

yes. it is a very dated 70's look, but that seems to sell up here. I used the default settings on the IES, so I'll look into it deeper.

How about a slight displacement on those stones, and maybe overall add some contrast in photoChop?
Maybe a bit of a bump on the carpet?
                Kind Regards,

Actually, I do have a displacement on the stone, but unless I create a custom map I don't get much of a displacement. The ones that come with the Arrow-way textures seem not to work. I'll work on the carpet.

You can change the softness of an IES light by altering particular numbers in the IES file. Check out this blog post for more info: http://jamiecardoso-mentalray.blogsp...h-vray-or.html

You can also override the light emitter shape in the VrayIES light options and make the shadows softer. Both of these solutions are essentially doing the same thing I believe...

Here, is how the project turned out. They are pretty low quality, but the point was just to show what the space can be. The architect used them to make design decisions, which is what spawned the white wood, opposed to the red wood.

Hehe that old guy "has been" everything now from a Pastor to a Dentist. He was a good buy. Your plant in the foreground just reminded me that I downloaded that sample and haven't used it in ages. Time to get out the archives make use of it again. The white does improve the image, slightly. But I wonder what it would look like with the white and then instead of the blue, some warm creamy colour (warmer than the wallpaper) But that's irrelivent because we're talking renders here, not design

Seems the entrance door is still red on the outside...

I spent a lot of money on that old man, so I'm making good use of him.
