  • Glass bottles side project.

    Hi all,

This is a little side project of mine to see how to get Vray to render completely photorealistic glass. I want to impress a client who currently doesn't believe its possible to do completely real-looking glass in 100% CG.

I've had a go at it, thanks to you guys over the weekend in sorting my shadows problem. Thanks to Ben Simonds as well if he reads this, he's been learning Vray and is contributing to this.

I want to achieve real looking little ornate glass bottles. Lots of refractions/caustics etc. Here's a render of one of the bottles.

I think you should read this tutorial about how to render liquid in glass in vray: http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray/vr ... liquid.htm
Basically, this is the main thing:

I have actually read that, however, this is my reference I'm using for this particular bottle, and doing the inside liquid like that tutorial doesn't produce the same results. I'll give it another go though.

      Here's my reference:

As you can see, it still has a long long way to go.

Another render Been a busy month, but now want to get back into Vray-Blender and help test again

This image is fresh straight out of the renderer, no messing about in photoshop. Thanks for the tutorial link, was a real help ! I really like the DOF in this, but it took 12hrs to render

          Wow, nice render!

And don't you measure time without DOF?

Can't you simulate DOF with Z-Depth?

                Re: Glass bottles side project.

Of course. But getting proper DOF through a highly refractive and reflective material like glass is more accurate if you use an in-renderer DOF

Its also easier, as I'm lazy
