  • First post from new Vray user (vehicle)

Hello all, I just purchased VRay advanced this week and started using it today. Just thought I would share my first official render. I love VRay's lights, can't wait to create some architectural images.

Thanks for the wonderful forum. I've been reading it most of the day in order to get better aquainted with VRay.

Thanks for the kind words. The material was one I created originally for a mental ray shader thread at CGtalk.com. I'm starting to slowly convert my material library over to VRay materials.

This shader uses a gradient ramp with normal maps for the color. I've actually rolled this material (and some other colors) into a .mat file and posted them here: http://www.evermotion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1156 if anyone wants to give them a try.

              Thanks again,

              Jeff

EDIT: In looking at the material again, a normal gradient type doesn't really work that well. If you notice on my first render the top of the car should be brightest since the light is above. To fix this, just change the gradient type from normal to lighting and then darken the colors and it works much better.
