  • Testing Vray for my boss

Gave Vray-demo a try. I am really impressed with Vray.
The glossy reflection on the mullions and door frame jack up the rendering time to 25min for 720x480. Ouch........

Thanks for your suggestions and comments.

It's really hard to find time to do some R&D lately at work. I have been wanting to give Vray a try but just can't break away from work. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?!

            hehehe...I know the feeling
but if you use 3d a lot then it's worth finding some time to test/learn vray....the quality improvement in your work will show through/ and pay off...

i actually saw that couch/seat in a store the other day!

which 3d renderer do u use normally? and how would u rate it against vray? as far as ease of use.. etc.

cocolas: I totally agree with you on that. However being someone's employee means I don't get to make that kind of decision.

a320: Thank you for your comment. I got the furniture models from www.e-interiors.net. I have been using Max's scanline renderer mostly. Sometimes I use light tracer and recently try to use Mental Ray that comes with Max6. Got my ass kicked pretty badly by MR because of its not-so-user-friendly environment. I also want to test Brazil and FR so that I could do a fair comparison report to my boss thus helping her making a decision on which one to purchase. Vray is the only one I have time to test so far, but it sure beats Max6's MR IMO.

Glad to know i'm not the only one :P We use MR for Maya at work and it's hell compared to using VRay.

Nice rendering After also seeing that couch the other day I'm still wondering how comfortable it actually is. Weird design for furniture. Bet it's expensive too.
