  • First decent try

    Hi,

After several days of practice here is the first decent image I produced with VRay and Blender, I'm not fully happy with it but for a first try it's ok.
Well, all in all I'm quite happy with the solution, even if I should spend much more time to discover all the parameters to optimize time and quality, mainly from light point of vue.
I used irradiance map and light cache.
Sun and vray sky for lighting + additional mesh and area lights
    Trees are made using proxies
Carpet is made with particles (instanciated object is a proxy)
Rendering time about 53 min (1920x1200) in medium quality on a I7 (8 threads), not bad at all

Irradiance map and light cache should be pretty safe for everything.
It looks like you have a lot of glossy surfaces(assuming the wood and floor have a gloss), you might benefit performance from checking "use for glossy rays" under Light cache.

If you haven't already, maybe try Reinhard colourmapping with a burn value around 0.6... this should help colours to not "blowout" in highlights.

Also perhaps try a little bit of AO (in Global illumination panel), vray can lack some details lighting and the AO could help them "pop" out more.

It's great to see you using vray!
Your work inspires every blender user.
I have scene your magnificent work with octane.
I think you may reach an even better level with vray/blender after some time.
        Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for sharing and good luck!
