  • First proper tests with vray

Finally I've posted some of my own images.

I started working on recreating my bathroom a couple of months ago using Mental Ray. I've since jumped on the VRay bandwagon and am loving it. Since I probably spend a couple of hours a week (I'd love to use it more but I spend my entire day at work doing 3D so I usually get home and want to sleep )

Anyway the first images are the basin which is slowly taking shape (although the UV mapping is giving me headaches) and the other image is a towel...well duh! I've just started playing around with simcloth so the results are not exactly what I'm after but it's getting there. Oh yeah, ignore the grey ring, it's a temporary fill in for the towel rack :P

When I eventually finish everything I'll post the results

      Thanks Hen

I'll see what I can do about making a beige towel. The blue hand towel is in my bathroom at the moment so I used it Might be able to tweak it in Photoshop.

          Nice work man.
I like the towel. it'is realy convincing. I would suggest you to work a little bit on the border.

The towel and stone look great but the brass isn't quite there it dosn't appear to have any spec reflect on it.

I love the towel! Did you use Snuggle fabric softener? It looks snuggly soft.

                Thanks for all your comments

I'm making really slow progress with it at the moment but thanks to vray and simcloth things have progressed faster than I thought.

J_Bug: I still need to work on the brass sink hole. My main concern was making the blue marbley texture work so I haven't given the brass much attention. I'll have to turn the reflection up a little to start with and work from there.

nikulu, doan: I used a no-name fabric softener so it kind of over frizzed the border. :P I need to fix up the displacment mask and give it a slightly thicker border.
