  • Engine animation

    Hi to all,

I share with you animation I have done with VrayBlender 2.68 and Vray demo 2.30.

Its my first time I used LC for primary and secondary bounces. I also rendered ambient occlusion pass and combined together in post.
I was used to render animations with IM+LC, but LC+LC has one big advantage I enjoy - render at ones. In the evening you hit F12,
go to sleep and in the morning you are finished... For animation with moving objects its nice setup.

PS: I also play the guitar

Very good. I suggest to use the motion blur to add a step up to this video

        Re: Engine animation

        Guys thanks for comments..

heej Marko you're right, it is unused. When I will get new comp I will render it with appropriate materials.. you know

I have never used MB and I'm bit confused about the settings.
There is MB and Camera MB under camera parameters, under Physical there is also MB and under Render settings is Still MB.
Checked all of them, used F-number 4, Shutter 50, ISO100, left the settings on default, but not good results. With camera type "video" all objects are completely white and with "cinematic" type completely black.

Can you post some tips how to start with MB?

You have to tweak ISO to compensate brightness when changing camera type.

You could also use motion blur without phys. camera - there is a "Motion blur" toggle under camera "Parameters".

            Re: Engine animation

This white/black problem is in cause of illumination and the light that pass through the camera.
However the main parameter that drives the MB is the shutter speed. Put it at 50 (it means 1/50 s or 50 Hz). This is the standard if you want a good MB with 25 fps. Uh it works only with video camera type.
You have to remember that if the shutter opens for a smaller time, lesser light passes inside the camera (at 1/100 you have the half of the light). So if you want to catch more light, you have to decrease the value of fnumber (square root trend) or increase the ISO (linear trend). If you not use the depth of field, play with the fnumber to set right light.

However all depends from the light of the scene you have. If you want to share the scene, or a part, I can adjust the camera to the right value.

              Re: Engine animation

My computer is weak and MB needs more render time.. So testing MB is a bit annoying, but slowly I get into it.
I come to Fnumber 8, shutter 50, ISO 8, camera type "video" and the rest on default. Will see how it works when its finished.

Thank you guys, I made step forward into Vray today.

                Re: Engine animation

It looks much better with MB, but it makes strange thing.
I rendered it into .png files and every 20th frame it blurs some objects away as you see on the frame 430 and every time it happens to the same objects.
I tried to render these three frames one more time, but in the frame 430 got the same result.

                Any idea?

Then hole render looks like this.

                  Re: Engine animation

Hum, are you sure that the cinematic of the engine is right? I see the camshaft that "jumps" the rotation. Let's take for example the frame 290... it's all right, the last cam on the left is at angle 0° (relative), at frame 291 there is the error, at frame 292 the cam is rotated about 90-120°, when I'm expecting about 10°

                    Re: Engine animation

Worufu you rocks! Yes you are right, I just messed up one copy rotation constrant setting, so the cinematic was incorrect.
But that motion blur is ok, what you say, would you adjust that setting? I cant exactly imagine how that effect can in reality working at that speed.

                    Thanks, was really helpfull

I just wanted to put together some movements in vrayblender with drivers and constraints and thanks to Worufu Im trying to apply motion blur.
