  • A GROHE Ypsilon Basin Mixer

Hi Everyone, I've been working on this for some time, hope you all like it.

Actually, I'm workin now for a bathroom interior I liked in the Grohe catalog, and believe me, I'm not making some kind of a commercial!
I'm also working on making some furnishings and bathroom sets.
Please post, your posts are important,

    Your's

yep I agree with Zuliban regarding the sink and I think the waste/overflow hole seem abit flat aswell.
nice caustics and great model. Did you model in Rhino for max?????
Lets see the Grohe shower rose (you know the one with about 200 different water spray settings.....SWEET) I agree graphicsgriffin, Grohe's stuff is phat.

        Nice work!
I agree with the KenKoala about the Waste/overflow "problem".
and the caustics on the wall seem a bit .. strange.
        But nice model/concept.

          Hi everyone,

I'm really pleased to hear your posts, and thanks for your kind words, I'm also glad you liked it!

I will consider your oppinions in my next renderings, and believe it or not! I was expecting all of your comments, save the one about the wall.
Anyway, down are the original photos taken from the GROHE catalog, and as you can see the original sink has a white material with no reflectivity at all, but for the hole I tried to make it reflect something! but it didn't work coz actually there's nothing facing it except the side of the sink, though there is reflection in the original !,
and for the caustics.... well I wanted to have some in the image coz I like VRay caustics, though the original has none of them !!!

The second image is the white bathroom (so far), I used tracing paper to extract all the information I need to mimic the image you see above, starting with defining the vanishing points for the image, then by
assuming the height of the top of the sink to be about 80 cm, I was able to get almost all of the heights and measures of almost everything. The 3ds max image so far is still in the light-preparing stage, so it's without textures and lacks some stuff, but I'm working on it, and I will post the image as soon as possible, (I see it nice so far!!!)

And for the modeling, it was all done with max 6.

          Thanks for listening,

          Yours Husaam

            hi husaam

looking at the original scans i noticed that the center piece of the door does not omit light into the scene, therefore the room is slightly less lit. maybe you'd like to mimic that one either.

oops now i noticed there door has only two pieces in your drawing so maybe you're aware of this.

THe door is clsed in the 3d version. This is only a hint of a suggestion becasue you have gotten very close. Add the floor color from the iamge, it made the photo a bit more interesting.
Two heads are better than one ...
....but some head is better than none.....

Hi, and thanks alot for reminding me of this, I'll try to correct.

But do you agree with me, that the door has ordinary glass, but I see a kind of "burning (over-white)" effect, especially near the wall facing the camera, notice that in the outside portion of the scene, there is a tree branch, I really think that it is a burning effect, maybe the photo organizer of the catalog meant to do this, I think the effect is nice though.

I really appreciate your posting, thanks alot, by the way, what do you think of the mimicing of the camera?

                  Hi there!
It´s really nice ideia and going on nice direction too.
                  Did you ask for comments?
I guess you´re using max, rigth?
if so here goes my :
                  - The sink has some meshsmoth, due to that all edges
are a bit too rounded, you could "crease it" a bit more at the back
                  - about camera placing a bit more too the left would help
you can notice between the feet of the bench a glance of the window.
                  - And about that caustics there are caustics in the original
imag but not so visible at first view
maybe thats the trick for good caustic moods,
                  not so at first plan.

Im happy to see this one going, please keep us in update.

the geometry of bathtub is different... it`s not so regular and geometrical like yours...

look at the postument, it`s not in the center of the bathtoob...
the oval of the bowl is also different...

                    but it`s good work...keep working.

                      Hi,

Thanks jp for your help, I'll try all of your ideas, and thanks ma+ too, actually this is the test version of the bathtub, I'm working on the final version of it,

Anyway friends, there is a sad fact, that sometimes(not always), I got very short in time and very busy with my work, so then it's so hard for me to post comments and replies, please pardon me if I get late on replying.
I try as hard as I can to spare time for the forum and the members.

Can anyone host the file for the Ypsilon Mixer, (the original version), I'll try your comments to make it better anyway.
