  • Grainy image

    Hi,

Here is an image I'm working on at the moment, as you can see it is a little grainy. I seem to get the same problem with all my interiors when I put a vray light outside the windows, has anyone got any ideas how I can solve this please?

    My settings are as follows:-

Any comments you could give me would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Not sure, some parts are very clean yet some are grainy. did you try increasing that vray light samples?

Another thing, i've never seen someone using that kind of exposure, with bright multiplier increased and darkness reduced. Usually bright is left alone and dark is increased. Why are you using it like this, why cant you just increase your light multipliers?

as dusan said you might need to bump up your light samples but noise in the wall material can alos produce that sometimes...don't know if you have that on, though....

You might want to turn down the glossy reflection of the wood floor.
          It looks very slippery.

It looks like you're using every possible technique to get light into that room. Your Environment is set high, your Diffuse bounces are both set extremely high and you're using Color mapping. I would think that some of this is unnecessary.

Do you have a bump map on the walls and furniture? What are your light settings?

Wow, thanks for all the replies.

No there is no bump or texture on the walls it is just a standard vray mat set to white.

I was just messing with the dark and light multipliers to get a nice ambiance in the room, I guess I need to revisit my settings!

Anyone got any suggestions with regards to settings for a scene like this?

At the moment I have a direct light and a vray light at the window.

              Thanks again

                  25

if that doesnt remove all the grain nothing will

Try bluring the reflections a bit more or reducing its amount, it looks waaaay over polished or even as if some liquid is spilled all over it. And that sharp line above the door on the far right, seems somewhat wrong, might be something wrong with the irradiance map.

25 for a window of that size dusan is not high. it looks like he has store with irr map unchecked and his light subdivs are around 8 .... for a window of that size is way to low and you will get that grain affect.
