now, if I have some time to play, I am going to put a subtle rainbow at the base of the water. I looked for a rainbow brush for photoshop, but nothing worked, si I'll do it old school. But, for now, I am DONE! Unless, of course, the client wants to nudge something 2"!
Yep! I got a reply, which basically said, "not even close!"
So, this is my reply:
"On the original agreement, we talked about two views. You mentioned the possibility of a waterfall close up, but that wasn't until a couple days into the project. If I can make changes in post, let me know, but I have my render farm churning away on my next project already, which I have started a day behind. I put an obscene amount of hours into your project, and I loved every minute of it, but unfortunately I need to keep other schedules."

I am working through the contractor. I was originally told that the starchitect was very picky and not easy to work with. I imagine he might wear a scarf or bow tie and walks with a cane . I do have a name, and I did some research before entering into the contract. It's been a fun project, just very vague concepts that I am supposed to capture and put on paper.
Mark Stewart Home Design - I have only talked to him once, and everything else is a persona.
waterfall brief: about 1" of water, rolling over the top, and plunging into the pond. I asked if they wanted it broken up, and they said, "no. it needs to be a sheet of water with force"
Comment on final: it looks like a chain linked fence!
after playing a little hard ball, I got a call today, and they are happy with my work. They said that after printing them, they can probably use them. Now, those passive aggressive words like, "probably", are a little abusive, but I understand the personality. as far as I know, their monitors are not collaborated, and were seeing weird images.
I also totally loved that clay shot - looks like a winter scene almost. It also has a very nice contrast between foreground and background.
Regarding the last image, my personal feeling is that there is now such an incredible amount of detail here that it now feels overbearing. I think that is in part why the painterly look worked quite well, because it hid some of that.
The background trees are brightest towards the middle which further reduces the contrast against the elks. Bluring, darkening and desaturating the background tress worked quite well in my little Photoshop test.
The falling water looks spot on, it is just the reflective surface on top that confuses me - I have the feeling I should be looking from below. Probably getting a sense of scale is hard here, because nothing is providing an easy real world reference - so my mind assumes these animals are about life size.
Thanks for always sharing your work here - I enjoy following along.
I went to bed thinking about the lack of contrast between the elk and the trees, but was to tired to fire things up. Also, I thought something to add scale would be nice, but I don't do people . The elk are full sized.
Here, is an update. I darkened the trees, took out some color, and replace a rock in the upper left; it looked like a hole in the wall because it was the same green as the background (that was bugging me, too.)
