  • Offices. Just offices.

Don't judge too hard, I work for a commercial practice that does a lot of industrial sheds and offices...

These are proposed images I produced for two offices on a heavily industrialised site. One office is a hideous building that is having the glazing re-done and being entirely re-clad & rendered, the other is a new build. I had picked some nice "detail" shots and vignettes, but as is the way of the world the technician on the project (architect on holiday...) wanted wide angle shots that show as much as possible. I tried posting the 24 megapixel originals, but they are too big. Shame really.

They're only missing some atmosphere and lens bits like some depth haze / glow / lens softening / aberration but your exposure and composition are some of the best I've seen on here. If you'd to dirty that up a bit they'd be seriously convincing digital sets.

Thanks for the feedback and compliments, totally agree on dirtying it up a bit. Tried to incorporate bits of grunge and chromatic abberation where possible; but you know how people can get about seeing dirt on their new building! I'd have loved to have had some more time to focus on the roads, adding fallen leaves and such.

        Here are some 100% crops:

Hopefully you can pick out the "glare" on the highlights on cars, it's subtle but it is there. Same with Chromatic abberation.

You may have to open them in a seperate window, the forum displays them to "fit" your screen. Should be fine if you're on 4k!

I don't think the subject's all that bad to work with. You've got reasonably clean shapes in the buildings that you've used to their full advantage to create some great compositions.
The landscaping is a bit more challenging in that regard but again in the 1st and 3rd images of your second post in particular you've found a way to make something interesting from it. Really good work.

Being picky - If one element stands out, and it's just because in general everything else seems pretty convincing, it would be the kerb geometry and material detracting from the realism.
Appears a bit more like an insitu concrete upstand than a kerb profile to me (maybe could sweep with a bullnose profile and indicate the vertical breaks in the texture) and you can also spot points at which the dirt texture mirrors in a few places.
I expect nobody's ever excitedly pouring time and effort into the kerbing in a scene but it does occupy a fair amount of the screen in these images.

I totally agree. What's annoying is that over and over again I've tried various methods of creating realistic curbs. These are modelled based on a manufacturers specification and then arrayed using railclone, but I can't seem to find a decent texture. Perhaps I should just pick a different product; but I know if I started putting lovely granite dropkerbs in an industrial estate I'd be laughed out of the room by the architect, technicians and quantity surveyor.

            I'll get there eventually!

Same, whilst I need to sort out the texturing on mine, and perhaps some randomisation on textures, I've managed to create one that changes style depending on material ID, so all I have to do is change the material ID to get a drop kerb.

Noticed the glare before I read this. Superb! Are you burning it into the render or overlaying it in post?

When it comes to Kerbs i just sweep with a custom profile and using a large texture that I've made but I'd be interested to see what the railclone ones look like.

I don't usually see those kerbs that go straight down into the asphalt... I'm more used to these ones

Perhaps yours could use a little more dirt down near the road surface, and of course some debris as you mentioned earlier. I had toyed around with forest pack trying to see if I could get it to scatter junk in the gutters but I gave up quickly. I'm sure it'd be easy to do even with particle flow and some sort of automatically generated falloff/gradient to distribute said junk.

Images are nice and sharp though! Grass looks great! Well done!

                      Thanks!

I am burning it in to the final render using the vray Lens effects. It's the first time I have used it since being updated and accessible through the vfb, which is a million times better than the previous implementation - makes playing around with it until you get the right setting a lot easier than it was before, when sometimes it would simply start re-rendering the image!

During a rare, brief moment of downtime I thought I'd give a "wet" shot a go, seeing as we're so rarely asked to do them.
