    try in your irradiance map rollout checking the option for "direct light" and that may help get you closer to how the final render will look.

        You have sRGB option picked in Vray Frame buffer. Maybe this?

          uncheck the sRGB button in the vray render preview (its at the bottom)

          then set the gamma in the render options in blender to 2.2, your render should now be as the preview, with the sRGB unchecked.

          UNLESS you mean that the prepass is sometimes lighter or darker, that's the GI pass as far as I know, and it may differ from the final render, since it counts indirect light only etc.
