That's mint! Excellent DOF. Was it done straight in Max or in Photoshop? (As I abhore Max DOF.) What kind of texture did you use on the body? It looks like a cool iridescence.

I think I like your design better than the sketch. Only thig that could really improve your model is that iris.

                    Good job

thanks for the replies. yeah half life is gonna kickass, i used vray dof and vray blurry reflections. i added a few things onto the back of the conceptsketch and some random wires. The body is vray textures with blurry reflections. heres a wireframe from rhino3d, however i decided to take out the gun

Gotta love Rhino All your fillets seemed to work nicely too. What procedure did you use to get the Rhino model so cleanly in to max?

                              Great Model!

                              Just a rhino question.

I'm interested in how you achieved the transition from the main body to the edge where the tail is attached (your surface is a nice curve and you have then cut out an arc and created a flat part. I've been attempting to do something similar for instance like the flat part near the edge of a nissan 350z fender.

                              (something like this)
                              http://www.sarona.com/Nissan/acc_350z_fender.jpg

also, while I'm off topic, does anyone know how to take a surface (say a sphere) then do an inset shape (say a square) that follows the curvature of the surface with a fillet? It seems like you may have done this on the wings, but I guess this could have been done with solids and CSG
