  • Some GPU renders with V-Ray RT GPU 3.10

    Hi guys,

    I've been going through some of the Evermotion archinteriors that I have, trying to see how the GPU will handle them; turns out not too badly, although we should be able to improve that in future builds, especially in scenes with more light sources. You can find the renders here:

    Very nice Vlado!

    I purchased Archinteriors vol. 33. I will see what the new build can do across 4 GTX Titans. I'll post the results.

        What resolution were they render at?

          Right-click on the thumbnails to open them in a new tab - they will open at the original resolution. They are not terribly large resolutions - I think most are 1200x1200 or similar.

            The question though is how these would look after 5 minutes on the same system with the progressive sampler.

              I can show you However it's a measly single i7 (four physical cores) so don't expect much...

                I had a go using a few of our scenes but RT kept crashing using DR. I sent one scene to support as I cant quite work out if its a bug or if something our end is causing the crash.

                    Here is an example. There are some differences in the materials, and resolving them is one of the targets for the next service pack, but even so the performance is quite good.

                    I rendered this on an i7-4471 @ 3.50 GHz, a dual Xeon E5-268 @ 2.70 GHz, and two GTX 980's. I've got a few other scenes - the results are very similar.

                    The jewelry store scene has odd things going on for the CPU, I didn't have time to check them out - some of the old Evermotion scenes have very strange setups.

                      Lol. It's just that I've lately been starting to question whether it is better to spend my money on GPUs or CPU. At least until RT output becomes identical to the regular render, if that ever happens.

                        The results are similar, but far from identical. The building in the background on the first seems to be a clay version, and the lighting seems different in the interior. Very clean though.
