  • Big Yellow - Big Does Small

Had a fun, if intense, project to kick this year off.

This first image has been made public so I think I'm ok to share it here. The premise for the campaign is 'Big Does Small', so large animals and people trying to make themselves as compact as possible.

There's one more treatment I worked on (as well as a couple by another studio) which I'll post when I can.

Boring/exciting techy stuff, modelling 90% ZBrush except for his teeth which I already had (I think from Viewpoint?). Hair is standard Hair & Fur, SSS2 for all his blubbery skin Surface Mimic (www.surfacemimic.com) was a godsend for detailing his feet and legs.

Timing was the biggest hurdle on this one, I had 8 days from start to finish and a 10'000 pixel final image to produce. If I'm honest, I don't think the details in this quite hold up to the resolution, there are a few stretched and blurry textures at that size but I'd say he holds up to around 7'000 pixels pretty well.

I also ran out of time to add detail to his hands to the level of the rest of his body and ended up having to retouch in most of the detail on them, which is a shame.

Still, a lot of fun! Will post the other image I did for this when I can.

    Cheers!

Get your head out of your...

Seriously, cool image. Looks like a little statue my grandpa would have had in his study.

looks ace, and brilliantly sculpted. the only thing that bothers me a little, is the texture seems to be slightly blurred and stretched on thighs and shoulders.

Ok, I *think* I'm ok to show this now, so here's the other image I created for this campaign.

A truly terrifying 5 day turn around for this one, so a great deal of shortcuts taken. His trainers are from a model library, I genuinely can't remember which one, but it might have been Viewpoint? They needed a fair bit of tidying up. His teeth were from Turbosquid as was the basketball, however the rest of him was sculpted in ZBrush. Once again, using textures from Surface Mimic for the skin pores/details. His afro was standard Hair and Fur with all the kinks, clumps and curling dialled up to as high as I could get them.

              Thanks for looking!
