  • Hi i'am new

    Hi all,
i'am new to this forum - so tell you about me:
iam 21 years young living in germany - don't workink at time (will be student hopefully - maxing since 3 years and haveing alot of fun with vray. This forum is superb - yesterday i'am sufing a little bit around and found many answers for questens ive ever had. Many stuff and gives from the community - so i hope i can make you little bit happy with this first post - it's one of my best images i've ever done.

    TRex Data:
    - working time nearly 3 Weeks
    - big Texture (8k x 4k)
    - modeled in BoxModeling technic
    - rigged and ready to animate
    - this is the third try of making a TRex (i won't post the other 2 - one of them looks like Barney the pink dino if you know him

It's not final (V0.92 i think) and its not the last rendering ive done - so i will keep you up to date about the hole projekt (and some day the animation

      Wow - Das ist FETT!

      Do you use Displacement?
Do you use MSN? I'm 20 and also want to study animation. (hopefully)
Would be cool if we could chat a bit.

      Very very nice work!

PS: Did you tried zBrush2 yet? We experimenting with this thingie quite a Lot right now and get stunning results really fast. Really fast means that it should be possible to "paint" your T-rex in one day if you practiced a bit. Check out the demo: http://pixologic.com
Works great with the new Vray and it's displacement!

        Great work!!

A little Jurassic Park, it´s incredible. If you know about animation as good as modeling, you will have to buy a very big chain

holy smoke thats crappy (just joking) its quite awsome actually. i wish i could model and texture that good. im also interested in some of the earlier questions. is it displacement? again it looks awsome.

              Hi

it´s realy awsome. Well if organic modelling and first class highend mapping are some of your aim´s, you should take a look at zbrush 2

              http://209.132.69.82/zbrush/zbrush2/Z2Home.html

i´ve tested it, and you are able to construct your own charachters in box modelling, import them via obj format and after a few tut´s, you´ll make your modell in 2 Day´s

this is because in zbrush you draw your geometry, and it can handele more than 2000 000 polys still in realtime with interactiv modelling feedback. You model evrything including all very smal details, go back to a lowpoly and export a difference displacementmap to max.

with vray, you can get back al the smal details while animating the lowpoly mesh.

              just take a look

ps, vlado also has posted something there on their homepage.

                  hmm

No, its no Displacement just Bump, ive tryed VrayDisplMod, bud ive yused the symatry modifer earlier in hirarchy so i've unwrapped (and modeld only one half of the Rex. But when you use the VrayDisplMod there should not be any overlaps because the Lightning then is a worry kind of mirror two - so this must be a Bug in VRay. But my ressources don't allow me to unwrap both half of the mesh (8k x 8k then would be needed and at the currend state max and ps swapping over 3GB after working a bit . Anyone know this UnwrapUVW/SymetrieMod problem/bug with vray 1.09n?

Yes i know about the anvatages about ZBrush - but never tested
however i will try it next time and post here my icq for all the german friends who want to talk a bit (and other of course

i'am working on many projects at the same time (i think over 5 Stegosaurus eg. and the Rex ist only one of them - so less time and to much to work

                  Thx - "haut rein Leute"

(Sorry about my english i've had a 4 in school

Probably not really a bug more just bad geometry passed up the stack, Have you tried it with a final edit mesh on the top of the stack?

It must be a bug, try the following:

                      -make a half shpere
                      -convert to poly
-delete the cap and aply unwrapUVW (just make a simple FlattenMapping with the standart pref.)
-aply a symetry mod (mirror it if you have to
-aply VRayDisplMod(you have not to use any map - but you can try - and render
                      - you will see at the mirror the lightnig is wrong, trying and testing and i came to the result, vray ist mirroring the Lightning at the symetry-half. Why? Because the uvw is overlaping and mirrored in this case. No colapsing the stack to single full Mesh will help (and no turn to mesh/poly) - try it ! So this must be an vray bug - because its only with VrayDisplMod and NEVER with Scanline. I can make a scene if anyone wan't to have the problem to :P

its a mirroring problem. thats been tackled a few times. actually wouldnt it be better to collapse your mesh so its not mirrored?

Excelent work man!, beautiful images, however i find the second image a little dark, would be nice to see the "eye" of the Trex. (or maybe is just my monitor)

Also, I wanna see the barney version.
