  • dbox for Google's North Bayshore HQ

2 weeks for 3 images, 100% cg. finished like a month ago. the 3 images were pitched as a day - sunset - dusk triptych that rotate around the site but the other 2 aren't public yet.
Rendered at 7k across for a 14ft wide print in googles hq.

it's actually geometry all the way back - we did some clever stuff with dem data and painting maps to drive forest. didnt really hit any technical issues with rendering a 120km wide scene, just broke it up into foreground/background passes to keep it fast and make revisions easier.

Excellent work. The detail is wonderfully balanced.

there's 5 xrefs so the poly count isnt accurate. the tiny red square you see on the left side i outlined on the right. why did we do it to scale... because we could.

          Real nice work!

When you say it's actual geometry, and then mention Forest, you are counting Forest as actual geomtry, right? You just mean no 2d matte painting?

                      Nice work yourselves
Not sure why only the sunset one was released, will mail them next week.

forest was used extensively. could not have done these images without it.

Ours are just that one aerial for now. 2 other aerials from the same height to come probably. there's a mix of credit - sometime big/heatherwick, sometimes google, and one article attributed all of them to us. spent a few hours on friday trying to get it all corrected but articles were popping up every 15min.

as far as i know squint only did the helicopter shots not those stills you see throughout the presentation.
