  • Secondary Bounce in Photon Map too dark, dots in displace M.

Hi everybody, sorry in advance for my english. I'm new in Photon Map techniques...

I made this for a first test : two pbs : 1 - too dark and 2 - the displacement mapping of the curtain

1- I wish the secondary bounce to be more powerful, the walls must be white....
I already cheat by placing a Vray-Light Area over the ground, white, to make it brighter.

Settings : ( I read in topics that the Hsph, the interp. at 200 is faster, and that is TRUE !! for the interior ).
The Secondary bounce was quite perfect in intensity with a Direct Computation, but the quality of the image is poor.

2- I always have dots in the curtain, even if i put a standart vray shader.
I think the problem come from the displacement.

    3- Any suggestions ?

    Best regards.
    Nko from Bx.

PS all lights have a ies file associated.

      hi 99neekho

Photons only work with vray lights!

200 and 200 for your irr map is way to high ...
these settings work in conjuntion with the qmc and purely for test renders
      this is what i discovered .... http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...pic.php?t=5967...

i noticed you are using Logarithmic Exposure control, im not sure if that works with vray, you should use the colour mapping in the vray roll out and choose either Exponential or HSV to control your Exposure in your scene.

        Thx for your answer.

These are Standart Max lights with Vray shadows, with a IES file attached, it doesn't work ?

        The Logarithmic stuff is off.....

About the Hsph / Qmc , what do you mean foir test ? It's poor quality ?
        30 / 30 / 15 instead ?

What can I do to avoid the dots due to the displacement mapping ?

        Thank you by advance.

yeah ies lights do not work with photons
do you read my thread about the qmc ?
you should keep your irr map down to around 60 / 40
im not sure whats happening with your Curtains cant really see ?
it might be due to the map you have used ?
