The reason the paint looks different outside as opposed to the studio is because of the lighting. In a studio a photographer would use soft area style lights (softboxes) and the outdoor shot would generally require reflectors to redirect the sunlight. These reflectors can produce soft or hard light depending on the material they are made of but in most cases they will be hard for maximum light translation which ends up containing more of a specular component.
