Here, is an interior that I am wrapping up to send off today.



I worked hard to get a good render time, which turned out to be a little over 5 hours at 4k.

Thanks, Raven. The client is really slow to respond and their deadline is today. I have been trying to get a furniture layout and what type of furniture for days, but I have gotten nothing. You know what's going to happen, don't you? I am going to get a slew of web cutouts of all kinds of custom furniture dropped on me late today. I asked for wall art and I didn't hear back, so I picked something. I told them that the cutoff is mid-morning today, so we'll see.

I'd say with the cost of doing development, the amount of money they spend on your 3d renders is probably very small compared to everything else so you get a lot less attention and feedback. Regardless the render looks great - kind of godfather-ish

Never saw it, so I hope that's a good thing . They need the image for print tomorrow, so I have been emailing them questions for a week, each time reminding them of the deadline. Maybe, they don't have answers; I made decisions so the deadline isn't missed. Realistically, I could have let the image sit because they are not giving me answers, however I have never missed a deadline so I want them to have something complete.

The biggest guy in graphics in dublin commercials always worked like that. He isn't the highest quality of all the 3d guys here in terms of ability or final standards (though they're still very good) but what he's done for 20 years is made sure that there's always something good to look at when the deadline is due for an ad, even if the client hasn't given him proper information or feedback. No matter what happens there'll always be a nice looking ad in a presentation even if it wasn't what was originally imagined.

I am using a contract on this one, so that feels good. I am heading out for vacation tomorrow, but it could be another project starting, so it is important to have that deadline in writing. I have three projects waiting on feedback for weeks, two for over a month. It seems that when they are ready they assume I was just sitting here, doing nothing waiting for them to reply, and will complete it that day/week. In my new contract it says that if I can't make the deadline due to their lack of feedback, I'll try to re-schedule it as soon as I am available. One I have is really 95% done, but they stopped replying so I sent them the final invoice. Automatically, a 1.5% late fee is applied every 15 days. I think now, to date, they owe an extra $12. It's not a lot, but it is a gentle reminder that we need to wrap things up. Since it is automated, it's not personal and I don't need to worry about it. Most of the time it is my contact waiting on feedback from someone else on their team. This one, La Cholla, the interior designer is the bottleneck.

Yep, here comes all the information from someone who has been silent for a week. Custom tables and chairs, monogrammed plates and napkins, really!

New rule for me. I will no longer except last minute stuff with low resolution swatches. I mean, come on, they gave me 12px by 12px web graphics for the fabrics.

Don't they realize that the image will only be as good as the time they give us to develop it? What did they think dropping off a load of crap 1/2 day before it is due? I'll need to I force that ALL assets are needed prior to start. Anything after will be looked at and additional charged can accrue.
