This is an older project that just came back to life. The project was actually sold to another developer, from what I heard, for an unheard of price. The guy I was working with called and explained, saying that he hasn't seen anything like it since right before the 2008 financial fall. Anyway, the new owner contacted me to complete the project and here is:

    The exterior night.

And finally, the deck view. This one hasn't been easy. I am not sure how to make this view 'special'. I had to use their backplate, which was low re and grainy.

I am going to raise the camera target on the interior. I think I am showing too much floor.

That side table on that interior isnt helping, it looks about 5 feet high and massive.

Your horizon is also far too high.

What i'd do is get a clipping plane on the camera and cut off all the interior, making it much wider to catch seating areas to the left & right - then make the image portrait and fill the top 1/3rd with open sky.

What would a clipping plane get me? Wouldn't that remove whatever is in front of the plane? They wanted to show the interior, looking out to the deck, but have nothing on the deck. Maybe, can you quickly sketch something out?

The clipping plane would kill the interior, yeah.

I'd them their doorway is not big enough to show both interior and exterior, you're left with a compromise that shows neither very well. better to focus on the unique part of the space (outdoor) and how it opens to the sky while making it wide enough to fully capture the seating area against the left side.

makes sense; I'll give it a try.

Okay, I am trying, however the clipping plane isn't working. I am probably doing something wrong, but it is rendering in front of the wall, too.

Okay. Clipping plane is a helper. I was doing it on the viewport.

I am having issues. I have a light plane, which isn't rendering. It shows when I have the camera clipper on and doesn't when it is off. It doesn't render at all.

Nice! 100x better than before. I would add some reflection to the planks, maybe subtle rain puddles or something. And maybe a hurricane lamp and/or tealights?

That's a lovely sentence - once you get beyond the point of worrying about materials and sampling settings, there's a whole other level of viewpoints to drive your image.
