    looks good !!

A few crits. YOu have way too much glow. Its too strong and there is too much of it. Tone it down a tad to make it look more realisitic.

Maybe try some area shadows on the main sunlight coming thru the window. Could look very cool.

Try addin a touch of glossy to that back shiny wooden door

        hehehe glow is cool.

Do you do your glow in max or in photoshop? I have a cool plugin somewhere which automatically adds glow to the bright spots of an image, like where the sun hits. ANd it works perfectly with vray. Takes longer to render tho

Here are some examples i made.
        http://www.apex.net.au/~daforce/greebleroom.jpg (without)
        http://www.apex.net.au/~daforce/gree...-specbloom.jpg (with)

Its pretty cool, and there are quite a few options, so its fairly controlable.

effects. And its actually included with max already one of its hidden secrets. (i only just remembered that it wasnt a 3rd party thing)

Have a look in the 3dsmax6/scripts/pluginscripts/ its called rendereffect-specularbloom

Just copy it into the plugins folder and start 3dsmax

Then add it as a render effect.

The other cool thing, is you can render your scene, and if the spec bloom settings are not right, just change them and click update effect and it will change the settings on the fly without having to re-render the scene. Obvious but still damn handy

                thanks

                thanks daforce,
i did the glow in Max render effects
i will have to try to use that glow technique you used also it looks cool. Probably not right now, because i cant save ir maps with the basic version and im not going to sit and wait on it right now, too much more to experiment with! hehehehe

ok will do. i just finally learned how to do that glow thing.
                  How you did them?

If i add a Vray light and make it "visible" it doenst glows like that, unless i set a higher multiplier, in which case it will glow, but the whole escene will be too bright.

Or am i doing something wrong?

I see that in your scene , you probably have VISIBLE Vray lights in the windows, theyre glowing just right, but the scene is not that bright.

                  How?

                    finally!

                    wow!
I finally get to help someone else out!
Ok, first let me make mention that i need to lower the value on my glow.
Second, what i did was the glass in my material i turned into a self illuminating material in the material editor, and then i changed the material effects channel for that material to 1
then in render effects (which you can get to by pressing the number 8 on your keyboard) i set up the lens effect and set it to glow. after that you can enable the material id effect by placing the check mark in it and changing it to 1 so all materials that have been assigned the material effect of 1 will take on that render effect. so you can make whatever you want glow!
also i dont have vray advance so i dont have the vray lights. but i do have the basic version thought. I used free area lights with 8500 intensity outside the windows
                    hope that helps

                      Cool...thanks.

gotta take a look into that.

But this means that your windows arent transparent, right?...so if you have something behind the windows (and of course you lower the glow) will you be able to see it?

                        just a little bit

the windows are about 20% opacity

there is nothing behind it, and the background is a very very light blueish white

Ahh ok, thats what i thought...yeah shrink the glow down and make it softer. The trick is to make it almost not noticable. You want to look at the image and not be drawn to the glow, because it should just fit in with the scene.
