hm, looking more closely, they could be a small light wash or decorative element. its not clear to me.. im talking about the blue patches above the storage bulkheads. at first glance they looked like lc/imap blotches, but now i see they are quite regular. i still cant make out what they are though.

Hello guys.
I've been asked to give a quote for 8 renders similar to the last update, but I have no experience in this department and would really appreciate some pointers.
The images would only be used internally, to show clients their chosen spec for the interior, like materials and finishes, and the interior is already modeled ( but I expect to remodel some parts since it's an Alias model).
I know it's very hard to give a definitive answer to these questions, but what price would come to your mind? I'm thinking about £350 roughly 2 and half days of work per image.
Many thanks

it depends if they will provide you with a fully detailed model, and what work will need doing on that model to make it usable. 2 and a half days sounds very tight to produce images to a client's satisfaction, since they will need to see the images, request amendments, and then you need time to do them.. in some cases this can be a repeated process.
you need to a) ask for a test model to check what you will have to deal with, and b) make sure (and have it in writing) that any amendments after an agreed amount will be charged at a daily rate.
personally £350 an image is WAY too little. although for internal use it *will* be at the cheaper end of the spectrum. It also depends if you are just starting out, and if the client has money.. however, id assume a company doing executive jet interiors isnt going to be poor. .. it will also depend if you can reuse assets between shots. i guess the main fuselage will be reused, but maybe only materials and trim will be changed, so in that case you can charge a larger fee for the first image, then a reduced fee for the further 7.

3k total is less than we'd charge per image...
are they 8 images of the same interior, or 8 variations of colors/finishes? if 8 of the same then you've basically got 3 weeks to do the modeling/materials and another week to get the renders and photoshop done, which is perfectly reasonable.Last edited by Neilg; 15-12-2015, 05:34 PM.

Thanks so much for the advice.
Neilg, your first line made me laugh and feel hopeful and sad at the same time. One day when I can render as nicely as Dbox artists I will make sure I quote 4 figures per image!
I agree £350 is a bit low, but this will hopefully be my first proper commission. Whenever I read these types of questions in other forums the replies always stressed the importance of the final usage of the image (web or print), so I thought for internal use it would have to be on lower end, but then this is for a potential sale of a product that costs millions. I don't know.
Super gnu thanks for the tip of asking for a test model, it makes sense and I've now requested one before giving my quote. By the way there will only be two different views of the same design, and then variations of the materials and colors for each view.
I think I'll tell them my quote is heavily discounted to prove that I can provide better renders than they currently have, and then onwards I'll have to increase my fees..
