  • Horseshoe House

Here, is a house that I am working on. It is a lower resolution proof, but it is turning out good. The owner had someone do a rendering and gave it to their real estate agent to list. The real estate agent is a past client of mine and asked me to do one, out of her pocket, so she can list it; the original wasn't so good.

Wasn't happy with the grass, so I did a little cut/past with V-Ray Raw Lighting sitting over it

Solid! That initial composition with the fence foreground looked bad.

Against their direction, I removed the fence and sent them a proof, which they loved.

Good call Bobby - I loved the initial rendering, but felt the fence was the star of the show. Your latest renderings look much better.

The grass looks brilliant now. What are you doing with it again, cut/paste from a photo?

                      That was a Pixelcon tip

One more tip: If you render the grass as just a texture (a bit desaturated and darker to manage GI bleed), you can then replace the ground plane with a grass photo in PS, then put a RawTotalLighting over the grass photo and set it to multiply. Easy shadows. If you want to add more shadows, you can sample the shadow colour from the RawTotalLighting pass and paint on a new layer also set to multiply so all the shadows have a consistent colour.

Sometimes, these get a little obnoxious. Do someone a favor with a 'quick' image because they didn't plan, however, the emergency due date seems to disappear and they start asking for custom fixtures. Oh yeah, it's out of pocket, because the project doesn't have a budget, so go light on the cost.

That's gorgeous looking. I'd render with with in camera depth of field just to break the edges a bit and you've something really photographic. You should pop up the first image you put on the forum and one of your current ones to see how far you've come, you're the best advert for the community on this forum and the benefit of having a full license and artist feedback
