as you will see, nice and fast render time's and also very smooth gi solution.

That almost convinced my boss to buy right now, but then he said until next release is out .

ive never really understood that. if he bought now you get to use vray now. and when the next release is out you will be one step ahead of the game in the learning curve and then 1.5 will be yours to upgrade to for free as was all the other updates till now. Whats the difference between buying now and buying when 1.5 is released. All it means is all this time you could be using vray...your not. your just waiting.

I think you need to have a word with your boss, Da_elf is right, no time like the present.

the lightmap settings are ::: Subdivs = 1800
                    Sample size = 0.01
Pre Filter = 60 / filter on Fixed / Interp samples set to 60 also
the lightmap was only calct once set to flythrough and then rendered from the saved map.
the lightmap took around 15min to calc.

I thought I read that lightmap is viewdependant. How come you only needed to calculate once?

                        Hi Gijs

the lightmap is some sort of viewdependent, and you cant incremental ad a newanimation, like with i-map,

but when you start flightthrough algorithm, something strange happens.

viewport feedback, looks like one big motionblurred single frame. and that seems to be it.

vray seems to calculate and distribute the chosen samples arround the whole viewable areas that come to the cam througout the whole flight.

so you still can calculate flightthrougs, but also have to choose more subdevisions.

                        Tom

Thanks Tom for the clear explaination.
                          Sounds like really inventive light-distribution-calculation-technology
