  • Iron Man Mark III - Look Dev

Well I've finally finished my Iron Man. Phew! There's a few small areas I'm not happy with but I'm gonna let those slide.

    Looks Great David!

What do you normally use as your neutral environment for this stuff? I must start off a thread with a calibrated environment for lookdev bits so we can all kick around ideas!

Nothing special at all and I'm sure I would be considered as doing it 'wrong' as I'm only just properly getting into this stuff. I used a HDRI off Grant that had the kind of reflections and light direction that I was after. I used a colour correct to desaturate it to see the neutral version, then turned colour correction off for the final render. I didn't have any backplates or real world samples to match anything to, just eyeballing it till I thought it looked right.

Looks pretty good to me, well done!
The whole image can maybe be a little brighter?
        Kind Regards,

Looks great! I agree with Morne that it feels like the whole scene needs a push. It looks a bit under exposed at the moment.

Now that you mention it, it does look a little dark. I've been staring at this so long, everything's starting to look like it has an Iron Man overlay on it.

One issue that I can never seem to fix is colour consistency, even in the videos. What looks fine in one browser looks washed out and flat in another. Is that purely down to individual setups or is there some way of forcing an embedded colour profile?

Most browsers nowdays support profiles as far as I know. Also can depend on what kind of plugins you have.

For video, it's more complicated to get it consistant and to match a still, because of coded (and whatever you're using to decode it - the player)
