great work! the bot really blends into the environment well. I do have a hard time distinguishing which way he's looking though (may just be me)...is the bot looking forward or up?

I really like this image! The details, the design of the bot, the environment are all great.

The only thing that bothers me is the UV mapping of the tree in the background. I would try to get the wood fibres in the texture to follow the shape of the tree more correctly. This is especially visible in some of the horizontal branches where the grain runs perpendicular to the direction you'd expect it to run in.

very very nice, i love the lighting/mood

egz..i think he's trying to convey years of rain and dirt/moss built up on that tree in a rain-forest type setting, I think it works

Actually this is what kills it for me. Visual its nice, but it screams noob for the UV's. And what egz is trying to convey is that the grains in the bark arent following the curves of the actual growth of the plant not moss growth. Its like strething a flat bitmap, and throwing that onto a planar map on the front of a face, it just doesnt work.

But as far as the visuals go, it looks great. Good job.

                            Hop, new background for me.

You seem to hav modelled the tree without taking care of the Uvs, then applied then in ortho. Urge to post the bot ?

Anyways, that's a great job. Beau boulot.
