  • Tp - vray rt gpu

    Hi,
It’s been a long time I’m working with Vray RT GPU and after putting this quick scene together to play around, I decided to make a little edit.
    Hope you’ll like it

Crazy! I'm sure once those cards drop in price we'll by using RT.

60GB for about $5,000. What kind of machine allows 5 Video cards? Why are you using CPU, isn't the advantage of video, the RAM? Are you finding any limits that holds you back using RT?

Well you could already have some 980 Ti for half the price of the Titan X.
My scene was only using 4Gb of ram anyways so easy to get this in the 980 Ti and I didn't do a pinch of optimisation
But hey, more for less is always better!

I'm using a Asus X99-E WS who was supposed to run 7 cards.
We have the 7 cards but never managed to get the computer to boot with more than 5. Bios issue I think. We haven't tried everything yet so I'm not loosing hope.
But it would be easier to set up with dual xeons that will support 7 cards without any issue.
It also pretty easy to get risers/splitters with host cards that will let you get 12+ cards onto the same machine.

Very nice 3LP, we are using RT gpu also, but ran into some huge issues when RT wasn't rendering bump & reflection maps correctly. What do you do in those instances?

Amazing, what were the render times like ?
Love the handheld camera work... almost creepy.

                    Really nice work, good job!
Can you elaborate a bit more on the process of building you rig? How exactly does it look?

I love that you just created a full 3D environment for the backyard. Nice attention to detail and integration.

if it's RT, it is real time, I would assume.

Thanks for the kind words guys,
Unfortunately it's not real time yet.
Some frames where 10min, some where 20 depending on the cam.
                          I'd say it's a average of 15min per frame on 5x Titan X.

This looks definitely awesome. I am just curious , if you will compare price vs quality vs time spent on rendering , how will behave top CPU configuration in the price range of 5xTitans and what will be time outcome of it. Also one more thing , since we have limit for GPU memory - VRay takes all the 5 titans memory pool and uses it as one storage or it saves exact and same amount of information on each of the cards ?
