  • first global photon map scene (WIP)

    Hi

After going through the photon map tutorial, interior images posts and goncalo's
tips , thanks all!, i trying photons for the first time.

there are 4 vray lights on the windows(1200 subdivision), set as skylight portals ; 1 direct for the sun, a few photometric for the effect on walls and 3 vray lights for local lighting.
    settings:
    -irr map: -3 0 , hsph subd. 50, interp. samples 50.
-photon map: search dist 4 , max photons 0, max density 0.8, retrace threshold 2.2

-qmc .95 , .105 <-- i'll bring it up to default values or more for the final renderings

    -color mapping hsv

Any C&C on the lighting and everything else are welcome.

    thanks

would be interesting if you had the lights looking like if its turned on. i can see the light pattern on the walls however the lights themself look dark like if they are turned off

        Thanks

ishpalsingh, this is a link for goncalo's photon map settings
        http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...ght=photon+map
there are many more, do a search.

here is a plan, the light setup is very common

Da_elf, i'll try to light the spots in max or ..ps

please ,how can i get more contrast in the renders (in max) when working with hsv exponential!!?

Also , a more technical question, can anybody explain what max photons set to 0 mean in theory ?, i mean , photons are being calculated from the lights, what happens when setting this to 0 in the photon map render settings. I used that setting because i 've seen it in the tutorial and most of the latest posts of great photorealistic interiors but i would like to know what it actually means.

        Thank you

ps: thanks Psy for the upload space!
