  • Mona (reality capture + hdr timelapse)

Here is my entry to win one of those expensive licenses...

we have been doing a bit of work with Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) so I thought it would be good to test out some photogrammetry to build up a base model.

Photos were captured in a heli shoot. I think around 2000 photos around this site. Photogrammetry processed with reality capture.

the background model is from ASTER Dem, and I've used rc to project textures from the heli shoot onto it.

some foreground elements have been cleaned up/deleted and re-modeled with railclone.

Background is a HDR timelapse that I shot a few years ago in big desert, vic, aus. there are loads of problems with that. but thought it would be interesting to use anyway.

rendered in vray, and I put it back together in fusion.

Looks good, how heavy is the scene?

      I'd have to look .

but I think its about 25 mill triangles after its been simplified

I have generally been simplifying the model to about 5 - 10% of original. sometime less.

some of the projects are getting close to a billion tri's before being optimized.

I do this all before it gets to 3dsmax though.... no way it would be happy with that.
