Interior WIP

Heres an update. Ive come across a problem with poor GI quality now that Im not sure what the heck I did to get it so. Heres the image, its a little large so thats its obvious of the issue:

Ive tried lightmapping, and while it was damn fast, it seemed to lack GI shadows in corners and such. Heres a test image of that.



Anyhoo, let me know what you guys think, and what I can do to improve the image and especially the Gi quality. Ill be working on it alot more this weekend.

there are 2 settings i would increase .... your Interp samples are at 10... i would use atleast 40 for an interior of this size and also you Quasi-Monte subdivs are low also ...

how many samples did you use when doing lightmap?

I think the light is coming in a a bit of a low angle, it makes it seem like sunset almost, but the background says it's mid day.

Can you be more specific as to why you prefer the very first render? Ill admit that I keep looking at that one alot, though it was never my original intent. Its actually still my desktop background.

actually i´m not even sure why i like it the most. first the mood is better, it has more contrast, the metrials are more brilliant....and the room is empty ..which is a big reason.

haha ok. all your points are well taken. Im looking again at the rug, which I will either be removing (whole scene looks better without it) or trying a different rug.

another smallish update. Added some and removed some lol. Background gone for now. Same with the rug.

it's coming along well, percy....might wanna use some glossies on the floor....right now it feels a bit flat.....also, IMO, it could use more secondary bouncing light.

Hi Percy,

Finally got around to having a go at your image. The solution isn't as clean as yours and the area at the back is getting nuked but this is the amount of sunlight I'd be expecting to hit the floor. Possibly even more.

hehe.....IMO, I think the best lighting solution, as far as the amount of bouncing indirect light in the room, is probably somewhere in beween sunny1's version and percy's version......again, that's just my thought

How did you get the floor so dark in the indirectly lit areas, its wrong.
