  • More Landscapes using scans

Here are some more landscapes using scans from Megascans, Real Displacement and good old Textures is even doing scans now. It has been so nice testing all these out in V-Ray, they really come out like this with minimal messing around in settings. Now that I have most of my render farm up these render in no time compared to Modo. Just having a minor glitch with stencils for some reason. Hope you enjoy them. V-Ray really brings a level of realism that I was struggling with before it.

    These are coming out nice!

I really like the kind of abstract tree one in the middle. Lots of mystery.

Thanks! The sense of "air" is what I struggled with when I was using Modo's default render. Everything came out too technical looking. V-Ray is much better at really giving a sense of space and atmosphere. For the record, I currently have no idea what I am doing with it, LOL!

Yeah, Vray has quite a few niceties that are missing from MODO and some other render engines. For me it's really these last "little" things that are making it such a pleasure to use. I discover a new one nearly every day I spend with it.

Most of these are flexible, powerful, easy to use or all combined. Good stuff.

They are really just drag and drop. Set to displace, diffuse, bump etc.. and they pretty much snap into place. These are the free samples from the site FYI.

Glad you like them. With scans and VRay, getting realism is easier now.

Just found that cgtexture (now textures.com) has some 3d scanned textures free on the website. So if you want to play with...

Been a subscriber there for years, thanks for sharing though! This is their rusted plate scan.

Scans are pretty good quality for texturing. Whats nice about megascans is that you can get meshes as well.
