This is a super tight time frame project. House is in town. Showing the North elevation and doing site photography as we approach the shortest day of the year is challenging (for me). Also such a narrow house, 25' wide lot, with existing house next door made for limited composition choices. Showing the mountains beyond was desired.
I used hdri in vray dome light. second time working with that setup.
I have done snow before but relied heavily on pshop. For this I modeled the snow on the ground and roofs. Then I wanted to add snow to the three large xfrog pine trees that I used to screen the neighboring houses (per client request). The trees needles are flat planes with opacity mapped bitmaps. I bought snowflow pro, $130, but unfortunately it really does not work on that kind of tree. Or at least I can't get it to produce usable results on the trees. Since I kicked down for it, I did use snowflow to add some snow to the top of the stone piers and railings.
I ended up painting the snow on the pine trees in pshop.
Seeking feedback on any aspects of overall image and any ideas for adding snow to trees like that. thanks in advance!
